Basic Information & Location
We are one of the oldest schools in the UK, founded in 1512. Our main entry points are 7 + (Year 3), 11+ (Year 7) and 16+ (Lower Sixth Form) and we are also open to in-year admissions across most year-groups. We enjoy superb facilities on a 25-acre campus just a short walk from the city centre.
Wolverhampton is fantastically located in central England, just 17 minutes from Birmingham, 98 minutes from London, and just over 1 hour from Manchester. Wolverhampton is a green city with many parks and open spaces, and is situated on the edge of beautiful English countryside in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
Academic Development
We have outstanding specialist teaching facilities, including newly refurbished science laboratories, and a commercial art gallery, theatre, and recital hall. In 2018 we have won the Times Educational Supplement award for Senior Management Team of the year and been shortlisted for a Times Educational Supplement award for our use of digital technology in teaching & learning in 2020. We are rated ‘Excellent’ in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
Pastoral Care & Boarding
Opportunities for student leadership and team working are being further enhanced by the introduction of the House System in September 2021.
There are four houses in school. Within the House system, the tutor group becomes much more like a family and the tutor group itself is part of a larger House family. The basic family unit is made up of House tutors, students and staff in combination with the Head and Assistant Head of House – or the Heads of Sixth Form.
Extra-curricular & Personal Development
We provide over 100 extra-curricular activities each term. All our sports facilities are on the campus and we offer a wide variety of sports from traditional team sports (including football, cricket, hockey, netball) to individual and paired sports (including badminton, table tennis, dance, squash and Eton Fives) Boys and girls have equal access to all sports.
