Basic Information & Location
In its quiet setting in 80 acres of parkland and gardens, Stonar lies just eight miles east of the World Heritage City of Bath. Stonar currently educates girls aged 2–18 and boys aged 2–11. From September 2016, the School is planning to admit boys into Year 7 to extend co-education through the Senior School.
School Motto
Stonar has a ‘can-do’ attitude that equips each pupil to make exceptional progress. This attitude to life, alongside the warm, friendly atmosphere and excellent teaching underpins the pupils’ success.
Academic Matters
Central to Stonar’s ethos is ‘adding value’ to a child’s education, which often results in pupils scoring at least one grade higher than predicted at GCSE and A-level. Therefore, Stonar comes out in the top 15% of schools throughout the UK in terms of pupils’ academic progress.
Boarding / Pastoral Care
Because Stonar has such a friendly, inclusive and nurturing environment pupils naturally develop a strong sense of responsibility, caring for fellow pupils, their school and the wider world. Stretched and inspired by everything they experience at Stonar, and supported by the school’s strong community, pupils develop into confident, out-going young adults. Each House has its own distinctive identity but all share a family atmosphere. Full boarding is popular and flexible options are also available.
Extracurricular
As a member of the CE Education Group, Stonar has 22 international partner schools which it collaborates with to offer a unique educational experience. Together, these members come up with academic projects, exchanges as well as joint music, drama and sporting festivals. With the 80 acres of stunning parkland and gardens, there is plenty of space for excellent sport and arts facilities including an indoor pool, floodlit AstroTurf, sports hall, fitness suite, music school and drama hall. A state-of-the-art Sixth Form and Arts Centre contains a social centre, seminar room, study centre and art studios.
