Oxford Sixth Form College Academic Matters
Teaching at Oxford Sixth Form College is conducted in small classes of no more than 10 students. Taking account of the students’ learning progress and ability, teachers with rich experience guide them to come up with the best learning methods. In addition, the college provides excellent pastoral support; students are assigned a Senior Tutor who follows up on their academic progress and provides a focused communication point for parents.
The A-Level programme has received good reviews. Apart from the common two-year A-Level programme, the college also provides a two-year BTEC Business programme and a one-year GCSE programme which has a more proscribed curriculum structure. Students who have good academic results and strong English language skills may consider studying this one-year GCSE programme rather than spending two years studying GCSE within a traditional school’s curriculum.
Oxford Sixth Form College does not have any restrictions on the combination of A-level subjects but will guide students to choose the subjects according to their interests and abilities while considering their higher education path and future careers.
Oxford Sixth Form College Extracurricular
To develop students’ all-round abilities various extracurricular activities are organized; Oxford Sixth Form College runs a varied range of clubs and societies (including debating with an annual event at the Oxford Union and chess) and students’ physical activities include participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme up to and including the Gold Award. The college holds social functions for students including various charity fundraising events; a Christmas Party and a Summer Term Ball.
