Basic Information & Location

Lord Wandsworth College is a fully co-educational independent school in Hampshire, right on the border with Surrey, and one hour away from London. The large 1200 acre campus has a very rural feel to it.

School Motto

LWC teaches its children that full involvement in a wide range of intellectual, creative, sporting and cultural activity sharpens the mind and deepens one’s sense of identity and purpose. It also gives them the opportunity to develop personal characteristics which will serve them well in later life.

Academic Matters

LWC has a character education programme which equips pupils with emotional intelligence and literacy, a ‘Growth Mindset’ and carefully nurtured characteristics which allow them to become respected and noble members of society. LWC has a strong careers provision support unit and tutorial system for students as they prepare for the challenges of university and adult life. The overwhelming majority of students go on to their first choice universities.

Boarding / Pastoral Care

Every student also has a tutor, allocated by House up until the end of the fifth form.  Once a student enters the sixth form they have an element of choice in who becomes their tutor.  They may suggest someone who teaches them, or who coaches them or just someone with whom they have developed a relationship over the years and who they trust to support and advise them through their fil two years at LWC.  Whatever stage the student is at, their tutor guides them in every sense; the academic, the pastoral, the social and the co-curricular.

Extracurricular

At LWC, students have the opportunity to play/sing in numerous ensembles including Concert Band, Senior Choir, Chamber Orchestra, String Ensemble, Barbershop, Flute Ensemble, Classical Guitars and many more. The Art School offers formal and informal extra art activities throughout the school week; in these session personal expression, imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, powers of observation, analytical ability and practical skills are taught. The school has a huge selection of clubs and activities over and above its sports, fitness, performing arts, art and service activities.
