Basic Information & Location
Situated in the centre of Lincoln in East Midlands, Lincoln Minster School is a “through-train” Christian school catering for children aged between 2 to 18. It is one of the HMC schools (The Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference) and a member of the United Church Schools Trust, which mark its innovation and excellence in education. The whole school comes together regularly in the Cathedral to celebrate the passing of terms, prize givings and special occasions.
Academic Development
Lincoln Minister aims to bring out ‘the Best in Everyone’, enabling each pupil to become a balanced, happy and articulate person. In 2017, Year 11 pupils excelled with 91% achieving A*-C at GCSE while A Level pupils enjoyed fantastic results with 86% achieving A*-C with the vast majority going on to their first choice destination. Of those going to university, pupils have been accepted on a broad variety of courses including Medicine, Engineering, Music and Fashion, demonstrating how the school cater for the individual needs of pupils and give them the guidance to reach their goals.
Pastoral Care & Boarding
Lincoln Minster is a school of friendship, warmth and care. The Tutor and Head of Year are responsible for academic and pastoral matters. The school has introduced Anti-Bullying Week, a national awareness campaign coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, to ensure that all pupils come to school feeling safe, valued and respected.
Lincoln Minster School has a number of boarding houses all situated in the uphill area of Lincoln and within easy walking distance of the city centre. There are several sports clubs nearby. The Harper Building, a learning space for music opened in 2010, features a 200-seat recital hall, individual practice rooms, music technology suites as well as classrooms and a fully-equipped drama studio.
Extracurricular
The school provides a wide range of activities including sports, drama, art, debating and with a great focus on music. Pupils of all ages are encouraged to participate whether through playing, composing or attending concerts and recitals. The school links with Lincoln Cathedral which enable students to perform and enjoy music in the wonderful cathedral setting. Alumni includes Laura Curtis who has become an award-winning composer in the theatre and film industry and Avalon Summerfield who is now a Freelance Classical Singer.
