Basic Information & Location
Kilgraston School has a beautiful campus with 72 acres gardens surrounded by medieval historic castles and museums. Kilgraston is a catholic school and the only girls’ boarding school in Scotland, only 40 mins away from Edinburgh by car. It has adopted the Scottish 3-3-4 education system, which is similar to the current education system in Hong Kong. The school provides six-year secondary curriculum which Hong Kong students may find it easier to adapt.
School Motto
Kilgraston’s mission is to train students’ observation skills so that they can explore and develop their potentials and expertise.
Academic Matters
Kilgraston is highly recognised in the local community mainly because the school aims to provide balanced education while teachers teach according to the students’ abilities and talents. With the new facilities and equipment, the school strives to foster future social leaders (foster leaders in the community).
Kilgraston has adopted small class teaching. Intensive English language classes are provided for international students. Its graduates are accepted by well-known universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. The school also provides a number of scholarships to encourage diligence and outstanding performance in the arts and sports (in arts and sports).
Boarding / Pastoral Care
The school works hard to take good care of the students. The housemasters are responsible for taking care of students’ daily lives, behaviour and emotion. Professional nurses take care of students’ health, while tutors follow up on students learning progress.
Extracurricular
Kilgraston School has a wide range of extracurricular activities. Tennis and hockey are two of the best sport teams. At the same time, the school also values students’ creativity and artistic talents, and encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities such as art, drama, symphony orchestra, choir, rock and samba. The school believes that students can build up confidence and develop better communication skills through these activities. Students can also participate in the LAMDA. Over the past years, many graduates have become professional musicians or artists. They are active in the UK arts circles.
