Pastoral Care & Boarding

Gresham’s School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. It is the school’s wish at Gresham’s to develop the full potential of every pupil by providing a safe and caring environment.

The school prides itself on its excellent pastoral care provision which underpins the full character education provided to all its pupils. The Gresham’s ethos is that respect should be shown to all; teacher to pupil, pupil to teacher as well as pupil to pupil and to the wider community.

With almost 300 boarders, the school’s vibrant and supportive boarding community offers plenty of opportunity for fun. The mix of day and boarding pupils in the houses is supported and appreciated by both groups and develops a sense of loyalty to both the school and their house.

All pupils belong to a House system and there are seven Houses at Gresham’s Senior School, four boys Houses and three girls’ Houses. These are run by a team of staff overseen by a Housemaster or Housemistress. In addition, all pupils are assigned a tutor whom they meet at least weekly to discuss academic and pastoral issues.

The school believes in providing an all-round education and pupils benefit from fantastic sporting and arts facilities, develop life-long skills through membership of the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh as well as working with the local community through a variety of charitable projects such as the Holt Youth Project and North Norfolk Young Carers.
