Basic Information & Location
Gresham’s is a historic and vibrant co-educational school, founded in 1555. It is set in 200 acres and enviably located between the award-winning coast and countryside of north Norfolk in an Area of Outstanding natural Beauty, where the school is inspired to bring out the best in each other. A Gresham’s education enables its pupils to develop in a huge variety of areas and it has a tradition of producing outstanding achievers in all walks of life, creating architects, diplomats, engineers, musicians and many more. Notable Old Greshamian’s include Academy Award winning actress, Olivia Colman CBE, Inventor and founder of Dyson, Sir James Dyson OM CBE, Composer Benjamin Britten, Poet, W.H Auden and Rugby playing brothers Ben and Tom Youngs.
The School is two and a half hours from London and 35 minutes from International Airport, by car.

Academic Development
Academic life at Gresham’s aims to be stimulating, exciting and fulfilling. At every level, the school offers a curriculum which it believes is versatile and enriching and provides an excellent skills set to equip young learners in a future of unpredictable and dynamic change. In Year 9, students study the complete curriculum, including exposure to the full set of sciences, humanities, creative subjects and up to three languages. In Years 10 and 11, students study up to ten IGCSE and GCSE subjects which enables them to keep open a wide diversity of career opportunities. In the Sixth Form, students can choose to study either the school’s highly successful IB Diploma Programme or a portfolio of three A level subjects – both of which provide a rigorous academic background opening up for students a wide range of university options and career pathways.
Pastoral Care & Boarding
Gresham’s School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. It is the school’s wish at Gresham’s to develop the full potential of every pupil by providing a safe and caring environment.
The school prides itself on its excellent pastoral care provision which underpins the full character education provided to all its pupils. The Gresham’s ethos is that respect should be shown to all; teacher to pupil, pupil to teacher as well as pupil to pupil and to the wider community.
With almost 300 boarders, the school’s vibrant and supportive boarding community offers plenty of opportunity for fun. The mix of day and boarding pupils in the houses is supported and appreciated by both groups and develops a sense of loyalty to both the school and their house.
All pupils belong to a House system and there are seven Houses at Gresham’s Senior School, four boys Houses and three girls’ Houses. These are run by a team of staff overseen by a Housemaster or Housemistress. In addition, all pupils are assigned a tutor whom they meet at least weekly to discuss academic and pastoral issues.
Extra-curricular & Personal Development
Gresham’s is very fortute to be located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The school enjoys beautiful countryside and unique wildlife and is just four miles from the spectacular, award-winning north Norfolk coast.
The school believes in providing an all-round education and pupils benefit from fantastic sporting and arts facilities, develop life-long skills through membership of the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh as well as working with the local community through a variety of charitable projects such as the Holt Youth Project and North Norfolk Young Carers. In addition, every pupil has a chance to discover and explore new hobbies or activities through the extensive clubs and activities on offer at the school.
