Basic Information & Location
Glenalmond College is set in 300 acres of beautiful countryside just outside the Scottish city of Perth, and provides the perfect environment for self-development and learning for the 400 boys and girls aged 12 to 18.
School Motto
To provide every boy and girl with the finest all-round education possible – an education which prepares them for the future, through inspirational teaching, outstanding extra-curricular opportunities, and the very best in pastoral care.
Academic Matters
The pursuit of excellence, with every child encouraged to make the most of their academic abilities, is central to the school’s commitment to its pupils and is demonstrated by the results achieved. All pupils follow the GCSE and A-level curriculum.
Boarding / Pastoral Care
Glenalmond is a boarding school which runs around the clock. This commitment to full boarding ensures that all pupils are in school all week and can take advantage of a busy and interesting weekend programme. All benefit from the superb pastoral care and individual attention that are central to the school’s ethos.
Extracurricular
Education at Glenalmond extends far beyond the classroom and encompasses all aspects of the individual – personality, character and intellect – as well as interests and achievements. Academic work is balanced with an extensive range of creative, sporting, social and adventure activities, and each child is encouraged to find those areas in which they can shine. Two pipe bands, a fantastic choir, acclaimed dramatic productions, lively debating and outstanding art and design shows offer opportunities for all.
Rugby, hockey, lacrosse, cross-country, sailing and horse riding are just a few of the sports on offer. The school also has its own golf course – one of the best in the UK. Many pupils gain their silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; there is a thriving Combined Cadet Force. In addition, all Glelmond pupils work with local charities and in the community.
