Brighton Girls Extracurricular

Learning at Brighton Girls extends beyond the classroom! The school believes that extracurricular activities are an important part of a girl’s learning and development. For example:

Sports enable the development of teamwork, fair play, and self-confidence, while also providing health benefits. Therefore, Brighton Girls has netball, hockey, football, cricket, gymnastics, and athletics as the core sports, while also encouraging girls to try skateboarding, boxing, and water sports.

Whether it’s the choir, instrumental ensembles, or speech and drama programs, these activities help build students’ confidence, communication, and public speaking skills. Moreover, if girls choose to take graded examinations, especially at higher levels, they can also gain UCAS points.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognized program that encourages young people to challenge themselves through a range of activities, including volunteering and expeditions.

Brighton Girls Pastoral Care

The school has a full-time school nurse and counselor to safeguard the physical and mental wellbeing of the girls.

The school assigns each girl to a “house,” which has a comprehensive peer support system, allowing girls of different year groups to build close interpersonal relationships and support each other.

There is also a team of tutors who provide care and guidance for the girls, and encourage them to volunteer and mentor younger students, all with the aim of helping the girls develop leadership and management skills as they prepare for higher education and careers.

Brighton Girls SEND

The school’s SEND team has the experience and expertise to offer individually tailored structure and support. One-to-one sessions, additional classroom assistance, a dedicated study skills space in the heart of the school, and a school-wide commitment to championing neurodiversity, create an environment in which all students can flourish.
