Basic Information & Location

Bromsgrove School is situated in the Worcestershire town of Bromsgrove, within its own 100 acres of grounds. It is 45 minutes away from Birmingham International Airport and 2 hours away from London Heathrow Airport by drive. Bromsgrove has Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and Senior school. With approximately 1600 local and international students, Bromsgrove is one of the best large-scale schools in England, with a relatively low entry barrier . In fact it is more like a community than a school. Students can be benefited from the spacious campus as well as rich learning resources. Academic, Music, Art and Foundation Scholarships are available. However, students who are passive may not be suitable to study here, as they may be easily neglected and become “invisible” in this large campus.

Academic Development

Bromsgrove School aims to produce creative and moral citizens who live motivated and fulfilled lives while enriching the lives of others. The school provides a broad curriculum. Including A-Level, IBDP, BTEC and foundation programme. There is a range of subjects and the school is very flexible when it comes to accommodating unusual combinations. In average, around 200 candidates take A-Level exams every year and 80% achieved A*- B in A-Level. The IBDP results is also competitive with an average score of 39.1 (out of 45). It is worth to notice that Bromsgrove is much larger than other schools in average, so the number of candidates who get A*-B could be the number of all students in some schools with smaller scale.

Bromsgrove School provides rich learning resources for students. Latest academic facilities include eighteen new and refurbished science laboratories, Art and Design building and Library. All older buildings have been renovated to ensure that every student learns in a well resourced environment.

Pastoral Care & Boarding

The school works its best to create a comfortable living environment for students. It even acquired a hotel nearby and turned it into a dormitory for students to enjoy "five-star experience”. Preparatory schools students can stay in a boarding house for up to 70 pupils, just like one big family. The five boarding houses of Senior School are small communities of 13 to 18 year olds, usually consisting of around 60 students each. Saturdays offer students the opportunity to leave homework behind and throw themselves into activities as diverse as rock climbing, ceramics, drama, the martial arts and etc. On Sundays, boarders can enjoy optional trips to the local cinema, bowling alley and cultural trips to places such as Coughton Court.

Extracurricular & personal development

Students who enjoy playing sports would like this school as they do not need to compete for space and resources here. The newly built sports arena provides eight badminton courts and seating for 500, an indoor swimming pool, dance studios and hospitality suite。Other facilities include two sports halls with climbing walls, squash courts, tennis and netball courts, extensive grass pitches and a 400-metre running track. Apart from Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and other Community Service, Clubs and all the activities play a big part at the school. The Debating team had won the National competition and represented the country in the International Final of the European Youth Parliament in Kiev.
