戰勝壓力

近日不斷有學生自殺的新聞報導,聞者心酸。對於這種有如「傳染病」一樣的自殺風氣,不同人有不同見解。是年輕學生嬌生慣養不堪壓力?是家長給予學生要競爭向上的思想,令他們喘不過氣?是學校不斷給功課?還是政府教育制度的副作用?



我相信事情總沒有單一的答案,今天的現象多方面都有責任。姑且將原因放一旁不探討,更重要的是如何協助學生舒緩壓力,解決問題。



自從事件成為社會議題後,政府開始有不同的對策,拍宣傳廣告主張學生面對困難時要提出;推廣珍惜生命的重要性;有些學校甚至乎推出「學生放學後不會有功課」的政策。然而,這些是不是治本的方法呢?仍是一個大問號。



而作為教育家,經驗則告訴我要站在學生的立場看,方可從根本解決問題。我遇過不少學生,基本上個個都超級忙,日日十樣八樣功課。有些樣子很疲倦,逗都笑不出,而有些則將核電廠一樣有無限的活力,比我更活躍。



分別在哪?我好記得,有一位叫做Justin的小朋友,十歲。我問他平時有沒有看電視,有沒有看妖怪手錶,他說「無呀,我睇Discovery Channel」先入為主的我即時想,不知是否爸媽說有益,所以他就要看呢?「我鍾意睇動物,上星期做獵豹,原來仲跑得快過老虎!」Justin興奮地說。我開始有點驚喜,問Justin有否玩音樂?「有呀,非州鼓,鋼琴和結他。我最鍾意鼓,因為比較喜歡節奏強勁的敲擊樂,我爸爸彈結他,和他一起『Jam歌』。」學校成績如何?「ok啦,英文不錯,我也喜歡,但數學要進步多一點,所以Daddy Mami放工回家教我做功課。」

 

我開始了解到,有時候,小孩子的壓力,是Approach的問題。當然啦,無論任何approach都難以改變「做功課好難頂」的想法,至少我是這樣想的。但是,如果能夠用一個較溫和,像耍太極的approach,借力打力,四兩撥千斤,是否能夠將本來難頂的事轉化成較容易入口的事呢?



Justin和很多小朋友一樣,都要做十幾廿樣功課,要學十樣八樣興趣,十八般武藝。但父母選擇了陪孩子共同面對,成績不好就一起學習,學樂器就一起玩,而不是硬性畫好時間表要孩子做這樣做那樣。較軟性的approach,令本來夠難頂的事,都發展成樂趣。



你可以說我離地。「返工放工咁辛苦,邊有時間呀?唔使做?」但至少,我眼前的Justin雖是小康,卻非富有;父母不是顯赫世家,卻在一字一句之間流露出對孩子的關顧和愛。我不是高官,對如何改善教育制度仍然是門外漢。但希望最簡單的一個小故事,可以給你多一點想法,或許作為父母的你,可以轉一個孩子較易接受的approach?試下先啦!
