Basic Information & Location
The Mount School is a Quaker independent day and boarding school in York, England, for girls aged 11–18. It was founded in 1785. Set in fabulous grounds of 16 acres in a conservation area in the heart of the City of York, pupils are inspired by the beauty and tranquillity of their surroundings.

Academic Matters
Academic excellence goes without saying and the school consistently performs well at both GCSE and A Level. Three times within the last four years The Mount has been the top performing school for A Level within the York region, last achieving this accolade in summer 2015. Annually, girls gain entry to top universities including, for example, Oxford and Cambridge, Central St Martins, University College London and many top international universities.
Boarding / Pastoral Care
The school prides itself on the pastoral care it offers and the whole Mount community is built on a mutual understanding of one another, pupils and teachers alike, as the school respects and values every individual, live adventurously and practise the wonderful Quaker values of simplicity, truth, equality, peace and social justice in all that we do. The pupils are considerate, caring, confident, articulate, and well-balanced individuals who are tremendously passionate about life.
Extracurricular
Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the school day, every day and pupils across the school are encouraged to participate in a range of sport, music, drama and other enrichment activities as well as social justice projects such as involvement in Amnesty and the Model United Nations. Charity work is extremely wide-ranging at The Mount and plays an important part in what the school does in both Junior School and Senior School.
