Boarding Experience in The Leys School
The Leys provides a nurturing, home-like boarding environment, with students organised into 11 unique houses that foster a strong sense of community. Younger students begin in Moulton House before transitioning to single-sex or day boarders’ houses, all overseen by dedicated housemasters/mistresses (HMs) and caring matrons.
The school offers full and home boarding. Full boarders enjoy a complete residential experience, while home boarders participate in activities, supper, and prep until 9 pm, with their own spaces and desks to follow the same routine. This flexibility blends the advantages of city life with boarding school opportunities.
With 70% of students in boarding, including 50% full boarders and 20% home boarders, the school maintains a strong boarding culture. Weekends feature organized activities, and sixth formers can explore Cambridge with a 10:30 pm curfew. A sixth-form club, complete with a bar, enhances social life.
