Basic Information & Location

Mander Portman Woodward is a private sixth form college founded in 1973. Having campuses in London, Birmingham and Cambridge, the college provides GCSE and A-Level programme. It ranks 19 among all private sixth form colleges in the UK.

School Motto

MPW helps students to develop their confidence, maturity, knowledge and skills, turning their academic aspirations into reality. By creating a culture of success, the college ensures that students are happy, supported and successful through outstanding lessons, continuous assessment, excellent pastoral care and extensive higher education guidance.

Academic Matters

Apart from the two-year A-level programme, MPW also provides one-year A-level programme and pre A-Level programme. There are more than 40 subjects for selection. The college also provides intensive training course for GCSE and A-Level students during Easter holiday. Furthermore, MPW provides preparation courses for universities’ entrance exams, including UKCAT, BMAT, LT and etc.

MPW has adopted small class teaching and has strict restriction on the number of students. With only 8 students in each class, students can receive quality education in a better environment. Besides, the college also conducts tests and mock exams regularly to build up students’ examination skills and confidence.

MPW also have its own publishing house which publishes study guides for several subjects and UCAS booklet according to the admission requirements of universities for students to better prepare and plan their higher education paths.

Boarding / Pastoral Care

MPW is not a boarding school. In London campus, students can live in student apartments or host families which are generally 5-10mins away from school by walk. Host families are arranged for all students in Cambridge campus.

Extracurricular

MPW values students’ social lives and provides a wide variety of extracurricular activities and clubs. Every year, students from three campuses compete for the MPW Football Challenge Trophy. They all try hard to win the trophy for the campus’ glory.
