Basic Information & Location
Malvern College is a co-educational full boarding and day school for pupils aged 13-18. Founded in 1865, Malvern is set in a beautiful 250-acre campus, which offers first-class facilities to its pupils.
School Motto
Malvern College strives to be the leading independent co-educational boarding and day school of its scale and type in the United Kingdom, and seeks to develop happy, balanced individuals who will achieve personal fulfilment at university, at work and in society at large.
Academic Matters
While maintaining valued traditions the College has always been at the forefront of educational development. It pioneered the world-renowned Nuffield Science programme and in 1992 it maintained its innovative approach by introducing the International Baccalaureate (IB) and quickly established ourselves as one of the leading IB schools in the world. For over the last two decades the school has offered both A levels and the IB and currently its Sixth Form pupils are evenly divided between the two.
Boarding / Pastoral Care
Malvern is a traditional full boarding and day school with boarders and day pupils in the same Houses. Each pupil has a Houseman – their Housemistress or Housemaster who oversees the individual’s progress through the College and who will help prepare the pupil for life beyond school. The Deputy Houseman also works closely with pupils. In the House, there are also Assistants and Tutors who are always willing to answer questions or give advice. In addition to the House team, there are academic tutors, class teachers and staff in academic departments who are all available to help, many of whom run clinics to provide extra academic support.
Extracurricular
Malvern College has a deserved reputation as a school that encourages excellence and participation in sport. It encourages sporting ability to thrive in pupils of all levels.
There are excellent facilities here for training and playing sport that includes a beautiful cricket ground at the centre of the main campus. The famous Malvern Hills provide challenging terrain for Cross Country running and, in addition to the more usual sports, the boys and girls enjoy activities such as Canoeing, Swimming, Sailing, Kayak Polo, Fencing, Scuba Diving, Basketball, and Clay-pigeon Shooting. Malvern encourages and celebrates creativity. Cultural awareness in the Creative Arts is an important feature at Malvern and is supported in the academic curriculum and beyond, by provision of a wide variety of activities that identify, engage, and nurture talent.
