School Motto

Large enough to challenge, small enough to care

Academic Matters

Ashville prides itself on providing an all-round education, promoting an ethos that pupils succeed most academically when their other passions are interwoven within daily school life. Encouraged to discover the ‘best version of themselves’ during their time at the school, pupils leave Ashville as articulate, confident and motivated young adults.

Boarding / Pastoral Care

Ashville offers full, weekly and flexi boarding for pupils aged 10-19. The boarding community is characterised by a true family atmosphere and exceptional pastoral care, upheld by maintaining small boarding numbers. Close friendships and a real sense of community blossom within boarding.

There are two Senior Boys houses, a Senior Girls house, and a co-educational Junior house. Each house boarding house has a lounge with satellite television, games rooms, fully equipped kitchens and dedicated study area.  Wifi is available throughout the houses.  A varied weekend programme, includes activities such as go-karting, paintballing, as well as trips to places of local interest. They also have access to the Harrogate centre allowing them to truly experience the culture of the city.

Extracurricular

Academic rigour is complemented by sporting and extra-curricular opportunities. Every child is encouraged to participate in sport. Teaching from dedicated staff is enhanced by specialist external coaches in key sports such as Hockey and Cricket. Swimming is a particular strength, and Ashville regularly excels on a national level. Outstanding facilities, including a 30m pool and climbing wall, allow a diverse programme featuring karate, badminton, squash and more. A £3 million development project of the sports centre begins in summer 2016.

The creative arts are highly valued at Ashville. Large scale drama and music productions regularly take place in the recently refurbished 600 seat auditorium with opportunities for all pupils to get involved on stage or behind the scenes. As well as individual music lessons, musicians can take part in a broad range of ensembles, bands, tours, concerts, recitals and more.
