Basic Information & Location
Established in 1858, Ardingly College has a 260-acre campus located in Sussex in the South East of England. As one of the Woodard Schools, Ardingly is famous for their excellent academic achievement in both A-Level and IBDP. The Woodard Corporation is a significant charity founded on the vision of Canon Nathaniel Woodard, who wished to provide high quality education – not only for the rich, but for all.
Academic Development
Ardingly aims to produce young men and women, confident in their own faith and being, with a desire to make a difference to the wider world. Sixth Formers can study either the A-Level or IBDP. The college provides a wide range of A-Level subjects including Classical Civilisation, Divinity and Philosophy, Drama and Theatre Studies, Physical Education. Over 88% of their students achieve Level 5 or above in IBDP and A*-B in A-Level. A contemporary Economics and Business Studies Centre has been recently built and the new science building is scheduled to be open in 2019.
Pastoral Care & Boarding
The College believes a boarding house is much more than just a building where a student keeps their belongings, works, sleeps and then leaves. The range of sports facilities includes six tennis courts, two all-weather pitches, three cricket squares, nine football pitches and one swimming pool. Houses each have their own distinct character. Facilities include Wi-Fi throughout, common rooms equipped with satellite television, DVD player, Apple TV, games consoles, piano and pool table. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen, computer room and quiet room.
Extracurricular & personal development
For students who are good at sports, Ardingly provides Elite Sports Programme. Talented students benefit from a personal programme supported by top coaches, like Ross Millard and Duncan Jupp. Ross played for Manchester United prior to injury and then went on to work in their football academy and Duncan has played at the highest level in the UK Premier League. As for Hockey, Richard Lane, Head of Hockey. An ex-international, Richard plays for premier division team, Holcombe. Richard’s coaching team comprises no less than 6 current or past internationals. Football is one of the highlights. The boys football team has won the Under 18 national ISFA Champions in 2015 and 2016. School also organise different amazing sports tour, for example, Ardingly held a Netball and football tour to Holland. Students had the opportunity to play against Dutch football clubs.
Work hard and play hard are actively encouraged to take advantage of a busy social calendar. There are a wide range of activities and house social events on Saturday and occasionally some trips and events on Sundays designed to give boarders a taste of what London and the surrounding areas in Sussex have to offer. There are also many water sports as the college is located near Ardingly Reservoir.
