Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that focuses on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure essential to everyday life, such as bridges, roads, railways, and buildings.

The curriculum integrates foundational knowledge in mathematics, physics, and materials science, while providing in-depth study of core theories including structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology to analyse and solve complex engineering problems. Students learn how to apply this knowledge to design structures that are safe, economical, and sustainable. Depending on their interests, they may specialise in areas such as structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulic engineering, or environmental engineering.

Overall, Civil Engineering aims to train professional engineers who can build and improve the living environment, ensuring public safety while addressing the challenges of environmental protection and sustainable development.
