【Oh爸媽:寄宿學校攻略】He, She, Ze, 真的好嗎?
記得讀大學的時候,曾經聽過一堂有關歧視的課。那課堂的思辯激烈,令我重新審視世界上公平的原則和歧視的定義等問題。
 
 
那時候的討論大約如下:如果我們認為世上應該存在絕對的公平,那麼傷殘人士是否要和四肢健全的人在同一球場上比試?如果我們認同要因應不同標準去對待社會上的少眾,那麼經常在別人面前提及「傷殘人士」而提供特別緩助,是否一種另類的歧視?
 
 
以上這兩個問題,在最近的一單新聞上令我重新反思歧視的定義。
 
 
根據英國每日郵報報導,牛津大學學生會提出,在一向使用的pronoun「He」和「She」之外,加入一名為「Ze」的字,用以代表誇性別人士,以避免冒犯。牛津大學學生會表示,希望在大學和講座等的場合多加使用ze作代名詞,而牛津大學的behaviour code亦寫明,錯誤使用代名詞(例如刻意用she去取笑膽小的男生)是一種冒犯。
 
 
有關這種敏感議題,自然衍生出兩種頗extreme的意見。同志平權人士當然歡迎此舉,mMr. Peter Tatchell就認為「消去只有兩種性別的概念是正面而進步的想法,我們不應該過於執著性別分野,畢竟有些人會認為he和she之間還有中間。」一位加拿大教授Jordan Peterson則認為不可以多加一種性別名詞,更認為「英國大學都應該向這種想法說不,否則後果將會一發不可收拾。」

我則認為事情需要由第三個角度去看。最直接的,就是想想到底跨性別人士是否希望被「Ze」去標籤自己是跨性別。假設我是一位由男生變性為女士的人,既然一心想成為女性,是否應該在變性之後被稱為She會更加感到受尊重呢?如果將Ze加入成為新的代名詞,那麼一心想將自己改變為異性的意義又何在?跨性別人士會否比較傾向受到和一般大眾一樣的公平對待?還是真心想在跨性別的前提上得到特別對待呢?
 
 
越諗越頭痛,我始終不是非常academic的人。如果有教授、同學對於心理學等理論熟悉,可否賜教一下?
