Traditionally an all-girls’ school, Stonar is introducing co-education in phases and expects to achieve full co- education in the Senior School by 2019. Boys in Years Seven and Eight have integrated well into school life.
One of the biggest features of Stonar is its dedication to NACE, a renowned education group with 21 schools in four countries. The NACE group boasts a global outlook in teaching, whereby top-class language training and multilingualism are common goals.
NACE schools, such as Stonar, are also keen to explore cultural and language opportunities in co-operation with the other schools in the group.
Language immersion trips to Spain have proved to be popular, while pupils in Years Nine and 10 have enjoyed teaming up with students from nine partner schools at Agora Sant Cugat School in Barcelona to compete in the annual NACE Academic Olympics.
Like all NACE schools, Stonar places emphasis on three core values: students exceed expectations; develop self-confidence; and learn to develop respect and tolerance for diversity.
A distinguishing feature the School is its high quality of equestrian education. With stabling for 65 horses and a range of indoor and outdoor areas, Stonar’s Equestrian Center has been approved by the British Horse Society.
Riders benefit from a program of specialist clinics delivered by leaders in their disciplines.
Stonar delivers a solid academic education to international students with outstanding opportunities to progress to the best universities.
Pupils are aided by an established careers advice system and a well- stocked Careers Center which they visit from Year Seven to discuss skills.
International students make up 23 percent of the Stonar community. The proportion of students from China and Hong Kong is not as high as it is at other schools. Students from Hong Kong fit in well at Stonar and enjoy socializing with British students in clubs and societies – such as orchestra and a range of sports.
